Exhibition - I Hope Your Family is Safe

„I Hope Your Family is Safe“ (2023-2025). One Exhibition of works by Khmelnytsky photographer Anna Tsariuk
Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 marked a dramatic escalation in the war that began in 2014. After nine years abroad, Ukrainian photographer Anya Tsaruk returned to her home country to capture the everyday lives of her family and friends for the photo series „I Hope Your Family is Safe“ to document it. The title of the work quotes a phrase that she often hears abroad - sincere, sincere and yet disturbing. With her photographs, Tsaruk creates a quiet, nuanced visual story that places human relationships at the centre in a deeply empathetic way. Her photographs draw attention to what becomes most precious in life-threatening circumstances: the inviolable normality for those who call Ukraine home. The project captures moments of loneliness and solidarity without emphasising the supposed „otherness“ of the people scarred by war. It challenges us to base our empathy not only on compassion, but on the recognition of universal human bonds, values, fears and hopes.
The exhibition can be viewed in the Stuttgart town hall on the market square from the 02.02.2026 until 26.02.2026 can be visited. Free admission.
