9€ – 10€

On 26.02.2026 we cordially invite you to watch the film “Intercepted/Abgehört” with us at the Atelier am Bollwerk. The film is part of a series of events organised by the Ukrainian Studio for Culture and Sport and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Baden-Württemberg to commemorate the anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine four years ago. Information on the other events can be found below.
To the film:
The Ukrainian secret service has intercepted thousands of phone calls between Russian soldiers and their families. The conversations from the front are a disturbing testimony to the brutality of war. In her documentary film „Intercepted“ (91 min.), Oksana Karpovych contrasts these voices with images of destruction, but also with scenes from the everyday lives of the Ukrainian population, who are trying to get on with their lives. In this way, the perspectives of the perpetrators and those affected collide directly. The award-winning film, which screened at the Berlinale in 2024, is a haunting document about the dehumanising power of war. The juxtaposition of the intercepted phone calls and the view of a destroyed country creates an oppressive reflection on the banality of evil.
