Exhibition by the Ukrainian Studio for Culture & Sport at the Kulturinsel Stuttgart. The exhibition documents the situation in the eastern Ukrainian Donbas region between 2014 and 2016 and features around 50 images by a total of three photographers.

Background: Almost three years ago, news of the events on Independence Square in Kyiv (Majdan Nezalezhnosti) shook the West. The subsequent annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation and the military conflict in the Donbas region made the headlines in the German media for months.
Unfortunately, Ukraine is just one of many countries whose everyday life is now characterised by suffering and grief. Many colleagues and friends approach us about the Donbas war with the question “What now?”. They hear nothing and believe that everything is back to normal.

With the exhibition “Eastern Ukraine: Donbas 2014 - 2016”, the Ukrainian Studio for Culture & Sport aims to regain public attention for the war in the Donbas region and show the cruel traces the conflict has already left behind.

The photos presented in the exhibition were taken by the former Donetsk resident, a war reporter and soldiers from a special police unit. They are pictures that have never been shown in the media and never will be.
