Exhibition ‚Discover Ukraine: Folk Art Meets Modernity‘

Folk art meets modernity - under this title, the Ukrainian Studio for Culture and Sport e.V. (UAKS) is showing both traditional Ukrainian petrykiwka artworks and modern Ukrainian paintings in the LABYRINTH cultural space.
The history of Petrykivka painting is inextricably linked with the history of Ukraine. This folk art originally comes from the village of Petrykivka, which is considered the most famous centre of decorative folk painting in Ukraine. In 2013, this unique art was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The exhibited works show how modern art today is characterised by folk art.
Participating artists:
Julia Marushko (Luzk)
Live. Chilled. Colourful. Querbeet: Small neighbourhood concerts make the Urbanstrasse between Kernerplatz and Urbanplatz resound. At half-hour intervals, professional artists, HMDK students and neighbours share their favourite pieces with passers-by. The starting and ending point is the LABYRINTH. Just let yourself be carried away by the short concerts taking place on the hour and half hour. URBAN SOUNDS starts at 4 pm and lasts until 6.30 pm. The vernissage of the exhibition ‚Discover Ukraine: Folk Art meets Modernity‘ will take place immediately afterwards in the LABYRINTH cultural centre in the presence of curator Kseniya Fuchs. Ends at around 20:00.
