MediaLab of memories
Six participants from Ukraine and six from Germany explored the past and present together with the experienced mentors by looking at the culture of remembrance through the prism of the war in Ukraine.
„History is merciless to the fate of an individual, especially when the unlearned lessons of the past allow evil to acquire new forms and new power, as is the case now. This is why it is so important to preserve the memory of historical events and pass them on to posterity: Through the bedtime stories - when the hero who saves others is one's own grandfather; through the bread recipe from the father whose life was only saved by a miracle during the Holodomor; through the secretly told family story of a flag fighting for the right to exist for more than one generation. In recent decades, we have been passionately endeavouring to find out what has been hushed up - researching the archives of the KGB and collecting the memories of eyewitnesses. If Russia is brutally and openly trying to destroy us as a nation again today, it is all the more important to do so. And we are doing our best. We tell you stories. We are remembering history.“ - Marichka Paplauskaite.
Reporters. is the renowned Ukrainian medium in the field of reporting. We love and know how to tell stories. Stories that fascinate and inspire, that impress and provoke discussion. In times of rapid socio-political change, it is important to see how it affects the fates of individual people. To hear their voices in order to understand them better. Literary reportage is one of the best ways to tell major social processes through human stories.
Gel[:b]lukewarm is an entertainment and information magazine that was founded in Stuttgart in 2016. We bring Ukrainian values a little closer. We are working on a high-quality bilingual publication, on the pages of which young authors and illustrators have the opportunity to realise their boldest ideas. Over 200 articles have been written by around 70 authors in 6 years!
The project is funded by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) and the Federal Foreign Office as part of the MEET UP! Youth for Partnership funding programme.
