Insight into Ukrainian literature as part of the Babel Matrix anthology
We are very excited about our new literature project „Ukrainian Rubik's Cube“, which offers an insight into Ukrainian literature and makes it accessible in the form of a multilingual web anthology. This project aims to present Ukraine's rich literary tradition in a modern, digital format and make it accessible to an international readership.
The Babel Matrix is a multidimensional, multilingual web anthology that presents original works and translations in parallel. This gives users an appropriate insight into the languages and literatures of other European countries.
Our cooperation programme, which serves the international exchange of literary works between different countries and languages, makes a decisive contribution to increasing the visibility of literary treasures from smaller language communities. This platform opens up new opportunities for publishers working with lesser-used languages in particular to make their works accessible to a wider audience.
Another aim of the project is to increase the level of digitisation in the book and publishing sector and thus facilitate access to literature in several languages.
The plan is to translate some of the works into three languages: German, Polish and Hungarian. This will result in around 450 translations. The special feature of this concept is the presentation of the translations in the form of a matrix, which makes the linguistic connections visually comprehensible.
The project is co-financed by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
